Jesse Bernstein appointed to AATA Board
ANN ARBOR, MI – Jesse Bernstein, president and CEO of the Ann Arbor Area Chamber of Commerce, has been appointed to the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority board of directors.
Bernstein was sworn in by Ann Arbor Mayor John Hieftje on June 19th and took his seat on the board at its July 23rd meeting.

Bernstein brings to the AATA board his Chamber business leadership experience, as well as an extensive background in consultation and contract services for businesses.
Prior to his service at the Chamber, Bernstein was president of Strategic Performance Planners, LLC, a firm specializing in developing and maintaining high performance cultures and human resource management strategies. He also worked with its subdivision, Capacity Building Consultants, to advise non-profits on staff and volunteer leadership, governance and strategic planning. |
Earlier in his career, Bernstein also founded and served as president and CEO of Employee Assistance Associates, Inc., to provide human resource services to more than 250 companies of all sizes and industries.
He holds a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from State University College in New York and a masters in social work in casework and community practice from the University of Michigan School of Social Work.
Bernstein has served on the boards of directors of numerous community organizations and is currently serving on the boards of Washtenaw County Workforce Development, the Arts Alliance and United Way of Washtenaw.
Bernstein and his wife, Lenore, reside in Ann Arbor.
Of his new role on AATA’s board, Bernstein says, “Public transportation is a primary key to a successful economic future for our area and vital to the quality of life we expect in the 21st century.
“The AATA has demonstrated its ability to provide high quality transit options and I look forward to working with the board to assure the development of these necessary services. I appreciate the honor of this appointment and the faith that Mayor Heiftje and City Council place in me to participate in the AATA Board.”
